Hey all, well I'm back - and what a day it has been .... Are you all sitting comfortably? ... I shall begin (wine and chocs being passed)
So, off to Rowallan today - the place that I used to love that has haunted me since the hospital fall (as it is referred to) so went as you know the other week for a couple of clear rounds and survived, so off we were going today for the Eglinton Show. Spoke to pal about half 10 who said they were still on the 20cm class so she couldn't see the 80 adn 90 being on til about 2pm, spoke to Tikino about 12 who said the 50 had just started so decided to head down for 2 o'clock.
Got there, Pads was on good form looking good (well I think so)
and off we went to see what was on - 70 cm had just started 45 in the class so I thought burger this, I'm not hanging about forever more so entered the dizzy heights of the 70 cm and began my warm up. Well to say Paddy was a screw lose would be the BIGGEST understatement in the world, he walked about like a giraffe on poggo sticks and the minute anything passed him he was up into canter, we had several 'conversations' and eventually I thought this is a nightmare i'll never get warmed up, so popped him into trot, did what I could and was called into the indoor collecting ring - popped three practise jumps in the most horrendous fashion ever and at one point nearly took out about three horses as he was going sideways -
at this point I decided to withdraw as I thought this is going to end in someone getting hurt, the atmosphere was electric as the place was packed and it had clearly blown Paddy's mind. Spoke to my pal who was on the gate who told me to go out, find a quiet place, work him in and have an under no uncertain terms he has not to behave like this conversation with him - so I did... transistion central, a hoof out of place and we were back to transiions, finally into trot adn then when we did eventually get into canter he was back to normal, went into the collecting ring again, popped three jumps very mannerly and I re-entered - jumped the course beautifully and were 4th out of 45!!!
This piccy sums him up today - all 4 feet off the ground!!
Met the lovely Tikino too who really helped me calm down as I had got myself in a tizz dn then I went into jump the 80cm, bit more excited but fine, 4 faults but I was really pleased, felt I had really won a battle and Paddy had more respect for me than he had at the start of the day.
So, confidence back, Paddy back in the good books, mimi battle won and ready for BSJA on Saturday. Great to meet Tikino who took some piccies too
Thanks for reading!
