Today we took a ride down to Croft RC, for the indoor Unaffiliated SJ the local riding club run. Barely jumped her in the 8 weeks since the start of thier winter season; been out & competed in the dreaded Dressage (D is NOT a fan!) ...so was hoping the fear of more dressaging would sort her out a bit

We went to the 1st one this winter & got eliminated in both classes & discovered a few habits and niggles Pony had picked up in our 4 year break from each other.. joy-so to say I'm wondering what shes going to come up with today would be accurate

Anyway.. our day..

Got up this morning, realisised I'd driven the 4*4 to the pub & my tack was in it... great.. toddled round with the beginings of a monster hangover.. & yes, indeed, my car is locked in the carpark with my saddle, bridle, boots & hat in. Clever Hayley.. well done!

Rang my Mummy & she suggested I ring the pub.. so at 9:20 am.. the poor landlady got a call from me begging her to let my car out. She said it'd be 10am before anyone could do it.. que some oanic as I want to leave yard having mucked out, groomed etc at 10:30..

Sit it out, and pick my stuff up.. head to the yard where D is dragged out of her box, a few squirts of mane & tail in her tail & a quick flick with a brush & the bandages go on.. Mum & Uncle hitch up trailer whilst I'm getting stuff organised..
Kid on the yard is screaming at her pony, someones lorry won't start, YOs are moving stuff with the tractor & muck trailer, cars everywhere.. yeah this is bloody chaos!
Jump start the lorry with the Shogun & get D ready to load.. alas however, Princess D doesnt fancy it this morning, she'd *much* rather stare at the kids on the yard whining & bitching. A few firm words & actually, Mum's right D thinks.. and in she goes.

Get there, spend 5/10 mins working her in on a long rein to keep her quiet, then pop a spread a couple of times..

Class 1: some sort of accumalator timed sort of thing, no idea to be honest, just use it as a wander round the course..(lol) D pops round nice & quiet.. ('m sat on top babbling away to her to keep her relaxed and shes popping fences liike a dream. Clear-que one very chuffed H & entourage! No placing though.

Class 2. Intermediate. With the intro of one rather nice plastic green filler (lovely.. we like those!) D works in nicely, get her in the school & the penny drops. She was much more forward, more like her old self & very keen. Some slightly short turns where the course was badly planned & D got a bit keen to show Mum she knew what she was doing.. Nice stready clear again, so I was mega pleased with her. No backing off, no spooky type appraches, really calm and consistant.

JO- Nice big spread, a combination of 2 uprights & a spread & the delightful planks she sometimes fancies a look at.. so I'm thinking of a nice steady clear again. No handbreaking it round like a demon on speed.. no racing for a time & a place.. but as usual D decides she knows best & as the bell goes she's off cantering round (still in control but doing 'her job' I suspect).. pops them nicely & decies that when I aks her for a turn shes gonna try to handbreak it round & race to the fence.. (I think this pony likes winning TBH) no threat of a stop or a pole & with 2 left to jump off she takes the lead with a time of 23:44.. modestly quick. I'm pleased considering I wasnt actually pushing or asking anything of her except a nice clear. Psycho pony from our yard follows me in.. VERY quick flashy type of thing.. absolutly bonkers if you ask me & takes 3 seconds off my time.. I'm begining to wonder how quick D actually would have been had I pushed her at this point..

Ended up with 2nd, which I was chuffed with.. Seems we've found our Mojo again..
(now whos gonna break it to D that she still has to do dressage again
