Hi,

Does anyone know the basic unafilliated show jumping rules? Scoring. faults and Number of refusals allowed before elimination etc.

Thanks

4 faults for pole down, 4 for refusal, 4 for run out. 4 if you cross your own path (ie turn a circle) or miss the start/finish.

I think 3 refusals and elimination, either all at the same fence or around the whole course. Don't know about falls but I've never seen anyone fall off then get back on to finish their round.

4 faults for a knockdown, 4 faults for a refusal and no of refusals before elimination can depend, some state under BSJA rules (therefore 2 refusals and you're eliminated) others allow 3 refusals - so that bit depends on the show! usually a std class will be a first round and then a shortened jump off course against the clock if you go clear in the first round (but again you can get all sorts of classes, for example speed classes where its just the one round against the clock) - you'll get this info off the schedule though. gd luck if you're going to one, most importantly enjoy it!

QR - Also, as I pointed out the other week to the judge (following a rather disgusting sight in the ring

) The norm, and stated in their and all schedules I've seen, state in showjumping class a crop, NOT a schooling is permitted...
