unbalanced horse?

When i first started schooling my cob he was bad and unbalanced on both reins but especially on the left, I worked on the left rein for a while and now hes loads better on it but he doesnt even bend on the right, he just sticks his shoulder to the outside and barges round them, Ive tried circles, serpentines and circles. What else could i do?

You need someone who can teach you how to teach the horse to balance so that when you are doing the circles etc. then he is improving each time, rather than continuing to do them wrong. He will only be barging and going crooked because he is finding it difficult and doesn't know what else to do to make it easier.

Also get your saddle checked. Cobs can change shape really quickly and he could be avoiding it pinching him.
