new livery arrived yesterday morning.. owner didnt come to do him yesterday evening..i left yard at 12 this afternoon and she still hadnt arrived..she also didnt turn up this evening.she sent a text to another livery saying get YO to feed horse, only one problem YO wasnt going to yard this afternoon/evening. we have been watering the horse all day as his water bucket looks to be an old feed suppliment bucket and not at all suitable ! oh and yes we did make sure he got his dinner to!

How strange are some people ! Who would move their horse to a new yard and then not even bother turning up to make sure it had settled in ..

Sounds cruel, but DO NOT DO HER HORSE! Absolutely no, no, no because it sets a precedent and she will expect it. Offer her horse water by all means, but do not keep filling her bucket up. The YO needs to tell her pronto that she needs to be informed IN PERSON and IN ADVANCE if things are needing to be done by her. Whoever fed her horse tonight needs to leave a note on the board saying "Fed your horse, please pay me £1 for the favour".

i hope the YO has a word as thats wrong, i am at a yard and someone doesnt come until about 1pm to do their horses who are stabled, i dont understand it at all, poor horses, there is no reason for it either they just dont bother, i find it unacceptable personally

After spending the better part of 15 years at DIY I would say don't do it. If someone starts to look after the horse then the owner will expect it to be done. I know that it is hard to walk past the horse but it needs to be done to get the owner to take responsability.

And as a livery yard owner said to me it should be called DIYFS (Do It Your F****** Self) when we were talking about an instance like you have.

I have had the same type move onto my yard. She left all the lights on in the barn tonight and both sliding doors open. Didnt come up today to turnout so poor pony didnt go out until 1pm when we realised she wasnt coming.

Yard owner must charge - if she doesnt turn up then a full livery charge for the day would be in order, along with a good kicking

Awww poor horse, if i got away with it then i would spend every wakening moment with my horses.

OH laughs when i say to him that im going to go and say goodnight to my lot lol
