After all the debates there has been on here recently about towing trailers...you'll never guess what I saw today. A bateson trailer (with a Horse in it) being towed by, wait for it, you'll never guess.......................a Renault Clio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still in shock.

omg :shocked some people are so stupid bet you were in shock

I honestly cannot see how that could even get off the starting blocks!

A Clio is usually around 1.2L, they have trouble even getting up hills usually. Are you sure it wasn't the Renault Megane, the bigger one? Still doesn't make it right but at least it would have a chance of getting going!

crikey. i can beat that though. unfortunately.
a long long time ago my then riding instructor spent the whole winter doing up a wreck of a trailer he'd bought. finally finished it, all immaculate and lovely after months of work, and set off for somewhere with his 17hh tb and a cob in it. the yard was at the top of a hill, and he was towing it with his nice little sports car, a TR7 or a Stag, that kind of thing.
you can imagine the rest... totally lost control going down the hill (trailer and horses probably weighed twice what the car did) and turned over at the bottom of the hill.
both horses got out without a scratch, and walked straight into another trailer to get towed back up the hill home, i was told.
amazing, huh? just how trusting are these poor creatures, totally at the mercy of the regrettably dumb idiots who own them.

I agree - I can't see a clio even pulling off with that weight behind it - I mean, they struggl with 4 people in, let alone a horse!

It was absolutely definately a Clio!!. I had to look twice though because I thought I must be mistaken but no. My husband was with me and he was amazed as well. It was pulling into a car park in the forest where we were running our huskies. Lots of people trailer Horses to this place to hack. A heavy cob was in it.

What woods were they? realy fancy getting out somewhere new for a fun ride.
Mind you we havent rode for over a week as we have sheet ice on the yard and drive. Even today I couldnt get up to work as the road was so slippy it was like glass, and I have shogun that was in 4wd.
Cant stand this area this time of year!! Every year I say I am gong to move him because I miss so many weeks riding with the conditions when a few miles down the road there is no snow or ice and hardly a day when you cant ride.

It was Culbin. It was sheet ice today...our rally was cancelled (made a mistake it was yesterday that I saw the Clio not today!). My van was going sideways on the trail. There is good hacking in Roseisle (near to my yard) with parking and beach access. I live near a huge forest called Ordequish which has great trails.
Loads of good forests around here! My yard is miles from home which is my nightmare.

I have an aging *coughs* Renault Clio and it's a machine. It my off road demon, feed truck, rubbish skip and storage container! I've never tried towing with it but never say never.

If it was a deisel it could probably manage it on the flat. They may not stop until they try to go uphill though
