Ok local hunt have asked if I will go on the inter-hunt team for next Tues at the Pembs show. It will be riding Ernie (the pointer), I really fancy giving it a go but what with losing a shoe/back being done/then the teeth saga(4days off) he's only really had a good three weeks of road work, mum doesn't want me to do it as the ground is so hard and Ernie isn't what you'd call fit having had so little work. She thinks that any little bit of damage done to his legs now could make him get heat/go lame when the work increases 10 fold over the winter! The fences aren't little but they're not huge, the bullfinch is somewhere around 7ft but most horses brush through that(actually suprising how many jump over the top!).
So what do you think? Should I take him or not risk him?
