Under rug?

Hello

Cane anyone recommend a good under rug?

At the moment she is trace clipped and has a cooler on under her outdoor and stable rugs, but I thought when it starts to get really cold and icy I should get her something a bit thicker.

So, thicker than a cooler, but as thick as a duvet.

Any ideas?

Hiya, I use the Premier Equine trio liners - you can buy them without buying the rug. They sell 100g, 200g and 350g liners. They have velcro fastenings at the front and clips at the back that you can clip onto fillet string rings. Never had any issues with them slipping and because they're not too deep they don't get dirty when the horse rolls!

i like the WB duvet type under rugs - they are 200gm and full neck
other than that - for something in between i'd go for a light weight stable rug

Whoops I meant NOT as thick as a duvet!

Thanks for your suggestions everyone - I don't want her getting too hot so you think a lightweight stable rug will be ok? She is a full tb who is prone to losing weight in the Winter.

And like I say, it's only when it starts to get *really* cold!

Oh yes I like the look of that. So if I just stick with 100g? I believe her rugs are about 200-250g. I didn't buy them! I wonder if she'll be too hot, but then I can just try it and see. She went 'slender' last year so...!

Rambo Duo liners every time. No pressure points or too many straps under belly, easy to wash at home and can be used under stable rugs or turnouts. Cheaper than anything else and bloomin good. Had mine 4 yrs now and still good as new. You can get them in different weights of warmth eg, 100g, 200g, 300g and 400g.

if I decide to not go for an under rug with 100g fill, do you think a woolen rug would offer more warmth than a synthetic cooler? I'm thinking yes but am undecided

I like the RAMBO duo but all her rugs are Masta, not sure there is any other way to attach them?! Other than a surcingle obviously

Why not get a masta under rug if you know thats what fits?

The rambo has clips at the back to fit to the rings of the rug over the top and velcro at the chest. Mine doesn't move but it fit really well.

I have some Mark Todd Under Rugs for my horses- they fit very nicely and keep them warm and toasty!

A quest on the rambo liners - do you get them the same size as your top rug, or a size smaller so that nothing pokes out?

Found the 100g liners for £26.52 and bought 2! I am hoping they will fit in the washing machine so I can keep my top rugs clean and save on getting them washed professionally.

LOL!!! The 100g should go in the washing machine easily - it's not nearly as bulky as it looks in the pic's, thats why i like it, i don't feel i'm swampping him with rugs!
