this may seem like a slightly stupid question, but I'm curious as to whether I can use my stable rug as an under rug? It's got surcingles under the belly so when turned out, my horse would have two set's of surcingles, is that okay?
thanks :)

I have done with no problems.

Only thing I'd advise is checking the rug doesn't get wet under there, wet soggy rug sitting on horse's back is never a good idea. Saying that you shouldn't have a problem if your TO is waterproof, not all of them are!

Yes! I think most under rugs are just another excuse to get more money out of us!!

Last year my mare had a stable rug and turnout on most of the winter!! Best and most economical way! :)

Personally I dont like stable rugs under turnout rugs because of the extra belly straps. I would rather use the rambo Duo liners. They come in different weights and clip into place to the leg strap/fillet string rings and fasten securely on the chest with velco. You can also keep them clean easily by washing them at home too. Fabulous invention!

I've used stable rugs for under rugs for years, just make sure the stable rug you use doesn't have a shiny top surface or you may find the top rug slips. Also the amigo mio stable rug has some waterproofing added to it's outer surface if you were looking at what stable rug to go for.

I do gree, best thing on the Market, used mine so much last winter, my horse ripped his chest open and it couldn't be bandaged (very difficult area) he did have a pad sown on for a bit, but he kept ripping it out.

I had too like the horse wear under rugs and changed them am and pm washing inbeween. I must of washed them about 100 times over the winter and they still look fab.

I also like the shortness of them, it they don't get muddy when the horse goes for roll.
