Undercover Designer Dogs

Watching it... horrified, but somehow not surprised. It's frightening how huge the trade is though, and I think the proverbial horse may have bolted as far as stemming the demand/supply chain.

quite upsetting to see how many pups in that van and the length of time they had been travelling.. i hate them talking about live animals as if they were just items for sale......how very sad:(

Grrrr Falsifying passports and ages. They won't be happy till Rabies and tapeworm Echinococcus multilocularis are brought over here.
:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Governments fault for relaxing the laws. Utterly heartbreaking. NO rules regarding their conditions or how long they can travel for. No info on the parents.

Shameful

When I think of all the planning that went into organising the journey for Freya's sister who went to Spain last year, it makes me so mad that those poor pups were travelled like that. She couldn't have her rabies injection before 12 weeks, so if those pups were younger than the age stated on their paperwork it is likely that they either hadn't had rabies or it wouldn't have been effective.:mad:

Was it really a surprise to anyone??, Shocking though, yes.

It is all about supply and demand and there obviously is a demand or they would ot be here..... It will not be long though before the cost of veterinary care for so many of these puppies will outstrip the financial ability of most families to pay for them, the ongoing health issues will reslt in the charities having to either pts or take on the financial burden themselves. The insurance companies must be making money or the puppies would be uninsurable, and, the vets will, as a result, be quids in.

Well when people keep shelling out for them, people will produce them.
When people fall for the 'KC breeders are bad, crossbreeds and backyard breeders are good' line, when people fail to realise that their money is funding criminality (you think these guys are just trading in puppies?! Where is the money going?!) then it might stop.

We see threads on here all the time from people who have been quite badly duped but they don't seem to be that bothered.
How the hell do we get the message through? When all a lot of people want is a cute puppy.

The programme just made me so sad. All the lovely dogs available for homing in rescue centres and kennels and (for those who have a breed preference) through breed specific rescues and yet there is such a high demand that people are operating in the black market to supply it.

I've never had a puppy and I probably never will - couldn't pass by all the dogs who already need homes. So many puppies these days are just rescue dogs in waiting, if their health holds out.
