Hello all!
Just looking to get some advice.
I was on a bike ride after work today and passed horses in the field. Two of them looked quite thin, ribs showing and the bones on the hind were protruding. I’ve not seen these 2 horses on that field before and it’s been playing on my mind since I got home.
I am new to riding but have not seen a horse look like that before.

Any information/ advice would be much appreciated.

Was there plenty of grass in the field? If not, was there hay/ Haylage put out? The grass is really growing now so it's not a time of year I'd be too concerned about if not loads of grass.
If you haven’t seen them before and the others were in good condition then these are likely young/ old/ coming from a less ideal situation and it's being sorted.

Something we have covered yet ( sorry in advance if we have ) is that it’s also very very important for same sex attracted people.
Lesbians as an example can not be forced to accept men in the lesbian groups.

Yes the fields are big and lots of grass. It crossed my mind if they have been rescued, lots of other healthy horses around. I’ll keep an eye out when I’m passing thanks so much.

Well done for keeping an eye out!! Could be rescues or just oldies, hopefully. My retired boy is 29 and a big horse. In his youth he lived on fresh air. Now old he is looking old. He has grass, ad lib hay, 2 feeds a day, feet done, teeth done but to look at him you can see his ribs, his SI is prominent probably due to arthritis in his back end. Obviously no muscle. He looks good for his age but could easily be mistaken as malnourished from a distance. Just confirming he is definitely not!
