has anyone ever bought a little pony just caus they felt sorry for it i bought a little grey colt in may this yr he was soaked thro and all skin and bone stood in the middle of a field covered in mites i couldnt leave him there as he wouldnt av made it

i paid £100 for him took him home and he collapsed in the field after i had got him eating and wormed him i had the task of his coat which was that matted and long even the clippers wouldnt go thro it he was a nervous wreck with the help of scissors and a lot of time and patience it came out slowly 7 months later he has brown spots on him and is the sweetest thing ever likes a bum scratch tho i found out he was only 4 months old

anyone else had any experiences like this
 
does anyone know what breed he might be hes standing at 12.2 at the min hes 11months old i have no idea what his parents are
 
He's a cutie, Little stig had a very sad start to life but he lucilky found he's way into Joanne on here's life and has been looked after superbily looks amazing now and has landed on his feet big time!!

Unfortunatly I lack before photos...

But when Zak was 'rescued' by a mate of ours, he had so much mane the skin on his head was being pulled down his face, his mane and tail were matted, he had sarcoids, thrush, overgrown feet, worms and was really rather skinny.

By the time we'd finished with him, we had a county level show cob, who then took to ODE like a duck to water!

Took so much wormer to shift his worms we should have bought shares in the companies!! And he started having COPD attacks some time after we got him.

But definantly worth saving. Horse in a million!
 
Wow, he's beautiful. Well done for a fantastic job. He really is very lucky to have found you. I feel really sad sometimes when you see poor horses being neglected. Here in ireland, we have a certain cultural/ethnic group, that traditionally keep horses. It breaks my heart to see them driving little foals in harness as fast as they can go. I want to save them all, but unfortunately dont have the land or the money to do so. (maybe someday, if i win the lotto). I've phoned the guards, who tell me there's nothing they can do, phone the welfare crowd, they say ring the guards. It's a shame. It should be law that no horse is worked until they're 3. It makes me soooo mad!

im hoping prince will make a lovely childs jumping pony he has so much potential im going to take him to his first show next yr in hand hes such a good lad does everything i ask of him even farrier totally suprised on the second visit after calling him a pit pony when he first come
 
i know the feeling my cob was a driving horse went to appleby etc i bought her from a sales shes only 12 but looked like 22 she loves being pampered and her feet done regularly shes a horse in a million theres no reason a horse should do any amount of serious work at that age it nackers them up for life would hate to think what would have happened to prince if i had not bought him my sweetie man
 
Yes Little Stig has certainly come a long way!
He no longer looks like a goat x camel, and his Jimmy Neutron mane is quite the fashion!

well done with your rescue!
iv done this lovely but stressful experience & am currently on my second rescue.
Burt was my first he came looking like this (i was given him for free):

he was also hopping lame behind so i gave him 2wks to show an improvement or there would be no point, 11mths later he looked like this:

hes stil with me 18mths later, out hacking & doing dressage.

my next project i this little mite, she was worm ridden, had lice, rain scald. the breeder didnt like her as she wasnt spotty so she had been left in a field with her mum & expected to grow!

no recent pics but she has been here 4wks grown well & has an amazing trot on her! fingers crossed for the future!
 
thanks rosienprince, he has his moments but was definately worth it!
hes a 17.2 ex hunt masters horse but has also done bsja and be, altho he can only do dressage now due to havin athritis, but hes such a schoolmaster makes a delightful change from my nutty tbx & difficult youngster! & hes also teaching my dad to ride!
couldnt really ask for a better freebie!
