Well, thanks to the general wondrous loveliness of the NHS  it looks like I may be getting posted to Oxford next year. Having just spent the best part of this year renovating my own yard near Cambridge, I am a bit peeved, shall we say...

Can anyone recommend some nice competition type yards around the area? If I'm going to live out of a suitcase yet again, I would be looking for part/full livery, somewhere with reasonable turnout. A nice school would make me a happy person, indoor would make me ecstatic.

Please cheer me up by telling me what a nice horse-friendly area it is. This means probably another year or two before I can have my cats back so I am very sad :(

It IS a lovely horse friendly area!! Probably a bit too far, but Cane End Stud would fit the bill for you...no indoor though!

Lots of people on here are closer to Oxford than me though so bound to have lots of suggestions. Real bummer about the relocation :(

Oxford is by far the best town in the UK! I would be over the moon if I got the chance to move there! Lots of people on here are around Oxford, I'm sure you'll get plenty of advice :)

Our yard is around 15-20 mins from Oxford (but if you are going to be at the John Radcliffe it is the wrong side, really), but we have an indoor and an outdoor, nice stables, turnout, and do part/full according to need. Can't guarantee spaces but you never know!

Hi
It might be to far, but my friend runs a yard in Charlbury, pm me if you want the website address.
Has lovely large outdoor arena, horse walker, individual turnout and good hacking.

And does all kinds of livery their very flexiable.

The good news is, I think you have one of the best areas in the counry for horsey facilities! I suppose it depends on where exactly you will be based in Oxford and how far you are willing to travel each day.

crown farm, ascott under wychwood, fab location for commuting to oxford... indoor and outdoor school, grass showjumps, xc course, gallops all year turn out horse walker etc.. full/part/diy livery!!!
