Ok so explain this one guys!
I had a small riding horse who was dark bay and she suddenly had a mark appear on her neck/shoulder, it looked as though it had been bleached but it stayed for the rest of her life, the hair was much much lighter and if anything it sweated in a slighly different way to the rest of her coat, but it was never sore and disappeared with her change of coat to the winter.
Now this is where it gets just a tad odd! She had a son who is now five and the absolute image of her but slightly taller but exactly the same colour. Two years ago I lost my lovely girl and last year the mark appears in exactly the same place, same colour, same size on her son!!! And that's where it stayed, it again disappeared with his winter coat and it's back this year.
When it first appeared I have to admit a cried like a baby as it is exactly the same as his mums, it almost like she's reminding us she's still here!!

That's so strange!

I was told that the type of mark that you are talking about (that sweats more leading to bleaching of the coat) is suposed to be caused by nerve damage but how strange for her son to have it in exactly the same place !!

I'm a bit of a technophob so pickies probably won't work. I understand the idea about nerve damage but there is no reason for either of them to have damage of any kind in that spot, oh well the mystery remains!

just had to double check and yes it does seem to go in the winter whether or not I have her clipped.
She had it though when she was born but not that noticeable till she was about 3 months old.
