I think we need more pictures of fences flipping over when hit by horses, so please will everyone with a bit of time to spare check out their local Event Photographers' sites, go through the galleries, and see if you can find pics. Also, pics of horses hitting fixed fences and staying on their feet would also be helpful. If you find some, please let us all know on here, and then someone could ask the photographer very nicely whether we could use the photos (with riders' faces blanked out) as part of our campaign, reproduce them with accreditation on here, on fb, and on a website i'm planning just for this...
let me know what you think, everyone. thanks.

Ooh I have a sequence of pics from Purston a few years ago when my horse hit a corner but managed to stay on his feet. I am glad to say the corner didn't move an inch. I will find them out for you!!

Here is a link to a sequence of me from a couple of years ago. I know it isn't a portable, but IMO is a perfect example of a frangible pin preventing a rotational.

Might be of some use to show how rotationals can be prevented. My Dad took the pics, so you have full permission to use them for any websites/articles!

Those are all great. Does anyone know John Britter and fancy contacting him, if not I will of course. The corner ones really prove the point compared to the ones of the horse and rider who hit the deck when the corner tipped.
Naturally, those ones you found are perfect too. The horse didn't hit the deck and if the tyres had moved under him, he might have.
Before anyone says anything, I know solid fences put horses on the ground too... but I think portables moving are more dangerous than a fixed fence, definitely.
charlimouse, that's a good one, i think we can have pics of frangibles working too, to show doubters the difference between a rail dropping in a controlled way, and a the whole fence flipping (upwards in some cases, forwards in others). pls could you check with photographer whether we are allowed to use them for this campaign. (obv it's for informing riders only, not 'advertising' or anything.) thanks.
thanks, great start!

Good news! Graham at Blue print studios in Cheshire has given us permission to use the sequence of images showing a horse hitting a tyre fence and getting its feet again found on his website (Its the one in my post from www.thefotografer.co.uk).

Bless him, he really is a genuinely nice chap, he once did an absolutely lovely job photoshopping a picture of a horse and sent it to me as a card, all just because I had enquired about if he did gift certificates. He didn't, but took a photo he already had of the horse in question and made one up for me so I could use that.

I'm so chuffed, with photographers being (rightly) protective of their work, I wasn't too sure if we'd have a positive response from any of them. Its very decent of him.

:D

PS Kerilli, can you PM me details of where to send the photos to? Many thanks.

That's really fabulous, please thank him SO much from us all, i'll mention him whenever we use them, of course. they show really clearly that the horse was fine and stayed on his feet because the fence was immobile, imho.
please send them to me at kerilli at gmail dot com.
please blank out the rider's face first if you can, as i can't do it on my laptop! thankyou.

I thought you only wanted portables moving -if you want near falls etc at fixed fences I've a few available! Jo

Yes please Jo, that would be fantastic. I think pictures of horses 'wearing' fences but staying on their feet (I realise sometimes they fall, but they perform amazing saves from seemingly impossible positions too) would be really useful if possible.
A number of people still argue that a portable moving is a good thing, I'd like images showing that solid fences not moving can be a really good thing too, horse's can use them and horse's don't get further unbalanced by them moving...
anything you can find will be hugely appreciated, thankyou.
