Has anyone had a recent delivery of rape straw Unibed? I really like my horse on it as its very absorbent and he is wet. I usually only use 2 bales a week. However, the pallet load I have just had delivered is more like wheat straw and not absorbent at all. So far, he has had 2 bales each day put in. Phoned them and they are adamant its rape straw. The last pallet load I had was that dusty I had to go out the stable it was that bad after putting a bale down. They did refund some bales.
Just wondering if anyone else had problems. I dont want to change but I cant afford to put new bales into the 5 of them each day.

I'd say crop straw quality is pretty dodgy this year. I don't use it sorry so cant comment directly but in general. Rape straw here was chopped behind the combines and not baled I believe.

I had a pallet in November, and am happy with the quality.

It’s my first order with them though, and I switched to them because I had a 13-bale delivery of my previous rape straw, Equinola, which were all of terrible quality.

Their stuff had always been good, but this was bale after bale of musty grey stuff. Normally they add essential oils too, but no evidence of that in this lot. Just about useable, but not an experience I wanted to repeat. Asked my supplier about it and they said no one else had mentioned any issues. So I switched, and Unibed is much like the old Equinola (minus the essential oils obviously) and a substantial cost saving.
