I read somewhere that the losing side said that they had no desire for a re-match, they thought the better team won on the day and they were quite happy with the outcome?

Agreed - Its been a great series, and I feel really bad for the team. I don't understand why they let him in the team to begin with if they're now going to go back and say he's ineligible :/ I think a rematch would be fairer - its a bit of a crappy way for Manchester to "win"..

Yes I read that too, I just enjoyed the final and would have been happy to watch another one.
I also read that the contestants had to declare that they would be students up till April 2009, so the disqualified contestant missed that mark by many months.

It seems very odd, they said the final was filmed in November so the series must span 2 academic years so why accept final year students at all as it's a forseeable problem.

Agreed.
In the last season, when St Andrews was doing well, we had to swap one of our contestants as he was no longer eligible. What was more anoying was he was the one scoring most of our points.

what did they win by? surely they could take off all the points he was involved in and give them to the other team and see who won after that? probably manchester anyway)
