I am buying my first lorry and have seen one advertised which says the unladen weight is 6450kg. Does this mean i only have 1000kg to allow for horse, us and tack? If so, it wont be any good cos one horse i know weighs 600kg and the other cant be far off. Then i wouldnt be able to take me , mum or tack or the dogs!!! Can anyone explain please?

Yes it does.

Yep your right. There are loads of 7.5ton out there which are overloaded with two horses on board. There are supposed to be cracking down on this next year, so I wouldn't buy it if you want to transport two.

Thats the problem with lorries with lots of living/ wooden cladding/ lockers etc! Its criminal that they can advertise 3 horse lorries that can take 1 horse, 1 saddle and 1 person!
Be very careul and take anything you buy across a weigh bridge first!

Yes, it does mean that you only have 1000kgs of usable payload

I would hope the lorry is VERY cheap on that basis as it is effectively a 1 horse lorry

My 3-stall lorry with living comes in at 5750kgs empty'ish, which means we can effectively only carry two large horses and tack / rider / groom etc
