Unlimited Haylage, How Much Do You Pay?

We have unlimited haylage at our yard the price has just gone up from £10 to £15,

I usually give her 2 medium sized haylage nets a night which is all gone by morning. and 1 in the day if she is in.
Some people on the yard have HUGE haynets and give thiers 2 of these per night, I dont want to use the big ones as I know YO doesnt like us to use them. I would feel like im taking the P##s for using too much if i used them.

How many nets do you give your horses when on unlimited haylage?

£8 a week. 13lbs a night = 1 haynet.

That's a massive amount of money for your haylage.

I should add that 13lbs a night is my choice. YO is happy for us to use as much as we want - provided there is no waste.

We pay £7.50 per week for unlimited hayledge, YO happy for us to feed as much as we like only time anything would be said is if the horse was wasting loads night after night.
We have the big rectagular bales of hayledge and i feed roughly 1 section every night which fits in 1 net, there is always a few tiny scraps left in the morning so i know she isnt going for long without.

£13 per week for ad lib, normally gets one net (sometimes two if he stays in). Pay per net in summer £1 per net so obviously a lot cheaper for those of us that use less. I always thought it was quite reasonable but maybe not?!

have no idea as it is included in my livery as much as they need on diy including straw stable turnout and hay at £35 a week

I pay £175 a month for livery with unlimited straw and haylage... So not sure what that works out for each bit but we can use as much as we want.x

Surely this should depend on the quality of the haylage. I know most farmer types tell me I am barmy for using the very best quality. Liveries tend to cut down on short feeds & give good haylage in order to save £'s. I think they are so right but I only feed the best & charge on weight fed.

£25 pcm we can take as much as we like as long as we don't waste it. i think instead of worrying about how much other use, you should look at if you are getting a good deal or not. i.e how much it would cost for you to fed that amount if you fed small bales.

nearby yard charges £1/day for unlimited.

I feed 5 horses on round bale haylage and it works out at 82p/day/horse. I'm paying £20/bale delivered and £3/small bale hay. £2.50/small bale straw.

Mine get nets 1st thing am, lunchtime, tea and late night - I use normal haynets and fill them approx 3/4 full. Any tighter packed and they don't eat it. If they go out, it's only for a couple of hours leg stretch.

My livery is £145 pcm and includes unlimited straw and hay or haylage.
I give 1 large and 2 smaller nets every night and every scrap is gone by morning.
But then that is all the haylage he gets. He is out all day and the grass isn't amazing and he looks right weightwise.

I don't like to waste it and if he wasn't finishing it I would give less but we've never got to that point as he is so greedy.

not on unlimited haylage as i buy it myself but my mare gets 22lbs of haylage at night and 10lbs in the day which she eats (no she isn't fat she is a skinny tb who i can't keep weight on eaiserly. i spend about £15 on haylage a week and i buy it in the green wrapped bales.

I agree. I have my own little yard, so buy my haylage myself and I buy the very best quality. My 16.2, veteran, who is out 24/7, gets ab lib haylage and she manages to eat about £14-£17 a week, BUT she only gets through just over half a bag of mix per week

not to mention no bedding!

I could buy cheaper haylage, but I'm sure I'd have to give more hard feed and she wouldn't do as well on it as she does atm
