Unnecessary tack!!!!!!

Haha. Possibly true, but equally I hate it when people make judgements on a horse without truly knowing it. My horse goes beautifully in his grackle, and yes, originally I bought it for the coloured horse as a fashion accessory, but the new horse tends just to cock his jaw and run through the rein, and this stops him. For dressage he is ridden in a flash, and jumping he also wears a running martingale, which he needs. He is ridden in a simple french link with cheeks. And yet some people see my tack as for fashion - but he needs it! Each rider knows what is best for their own horse and we can't really criticise unless a horse's welfare is at stake.
 
I was trying to be brave the other week ans decided to sj my boy without his usual Flash and Martingale (very lose) I had no steering or control and really couldnt stop, luckly it was indoors and I had to bring him back to trot to turn the corners, but with the added extras on I have no problems, he still came third bless him!!!!

yes tack does seem to go through fashion phases just like our clothes but how do you know what is unnecessary if you have never ridden the horse. my girl wears a flash, most people who see her ridden think she's a very easy girl, and yes she is when ridden in the flash lol, take it off and she'll cross her jaw and do exactly as she pleases

but i'm sure there are plenty who think i am over dressing her but until they've sat on her i'm not really bothered by their opinion
