Unnecessary to see at HOYS

All the UK event riders, certainly three of the dressage team and three of the SJs were all in the PC.

It is a good grounding for young riders, it does teach good riding and good stable management skills and for me, as an employer, if a potential worker has taken and passed their PC tests it counts for a lot.

But JFTD I did say that the girl and the boy were 'particularly' annoying - suggesting that there WERE others that I didn't enjoy seeing ride too.

You seem confused as to whether you were slating two particular riders, or the entire sport. If the others were annoying too, why is it so unacceptable for other posters to defend their sport in general?

I submit because it seems that you are a better pedant than me. Oh and yes I am famed for being a member who seeks to belittle others......

No, you submit because your argument that other posters cannot follow a logical argument or debate is indefensible and illogical. Your complaint about those riders, or the standard of riding in MG generally may not be.

I don't care for your incinuation in your final sentence. Any reputation you may or may not have is irrelevant, your comments on this thread have been belittling and rude towards other posters.

Nope, I honestly submitted because I could see I wasn't going to 'win' - you are right I was unclear in places. You are very good and more of a pedant than me - go on admit it (this isn't a criticism - hats off to you).

So, I apologised earlier for being rude and said it was due to frustration. I have tried to make my point clear and failed. I have submitted because you were able to find flaws in my argument. The trouble is with the computer - you can't hear tone and there is a fatal flaw with that.

Ironically I feel that you are now trying to belittle me - I was rude to one poster - clearly because I quoted her post. Earlier you got very specific about plurals and yet here you are doing exactly the same thing; generalising and suggesting that I have attempted to belittle and have been rude to posterS.

I had hoped that an apology to the person who I offended may have sufficed. I will try to be more specific in my point in future.

I'm tired. I submit :(

Deleted because there's no point conversing with someone with an agenda.

I don't get this. What does this mean? Agenda about what? Would it help if I said it in different words?

I said I was unclear, I said I was sorry, I said well done for pointing out the tiny flaws in my argument.

Would this help.... :):o:);):rolleyes::D:o:):p:o:)

You're doing a very good job of making me sound like a bad tempered pedant, when you were the one insulting other posters and trying to wriggle out of it. Have all the sarcastic smileys you want :)

No no no no no no! You have got it wrong. You are reading my thread with a sarcastic voice (from me) and I have a 'fair enough' voice on. Your refusal to engage with my apology is making you look like a bad tempered pedant :)

And how can a blatant apology be 'wriggling out of it'. Jesus woman, what do you want? Blood?

Smilies were a peace offering not sarcasm.

PosteR not posterS

Spurring the horse while hauling on its mouth - there must be some remarkably talented showjumping horses out there, and some remarkably unbalanced top riders! Horses simply won't try for you if you do that.

Perhaps you need to get out and about a bit more competing...

Actually, re-reading your post, I'm not sure where you have witnessed this type of riding, other than at local shows, not HOYS, which is what the thread is about.

Spurring the horse and hauling it in the mouth was exactly what I witnessed at HOYS which is why I started this thread!

I saw the incident live at hoys myself.
I am disappointed by the rider in question.
I would hope the Organiser, or the Judges, or the Stipendiary Steward will have by now, had a little word, and maybe the rider be shown the footage.
In an age where the sport is trying to appeal to the wider public, I repeat I am disappointed.
And it happened right by the Sky Sports studio, not a good idea!

I'm surprised that anyone is shocked that Robert W is dour faced, that's his trademark surely?! :D

I know... but after the olympics I'm just so used to seeing riders happy and appreciating what they have that Robert's 'not botherdness' really bothered me lol!

and anyway - I was on the tele loads on Saturday night neh neh neh neh neh NEH
