Are any of these fruit veg Unsafe for horses:
Rasberries
Brussel sprouts
Green peas
Blackberries
Spinach
Green tea
Blueberries
Broccolli
Apricot
Cabbage
Grapes
Cranberries
Strawberries
Cauliflower
Swiss chard
Cucumber
Onion
Garlic
Tomatoes

Some are a bit strange i know but they are all rich in certain things that I think may benefit my horses as well as carrots and apples
And yes before you ask they are having a supplement/being fed correctly, I just like the idea of giving them a bit more fruit/veg
Thanks :)

Peppers are also unsafe as they are a relative to the deadly nightshade family. Rhubarb, persimmons and avocado are also bad for horses.

I was told by a vet testing a horse for alergies that if you tested for carrot and apple alergies all horses would react as alergic.

Makes you think...

This is interesting. Any idea about potato skin? When my old share horses owner came to see him she would occasionally feed him left over potato peelings. He scoffed them up but I always thought it was a bit weird!

Well apparantly if we had discovered potatos today we would not be alowed to eat them because of the high levels of toxins in them, raw potato is really bad for people so i guess they are not good for horses either... correct me if i am wrong.

Potatoes are meant to be poisonous if they are fed raw because they are high in potassium. However, I know that they can eat cooked potatoes - it's supposed to have the same qualities as maize. Mine sometimes get boiled potato peelings and the odd leftover roastie.

is cauli specific to the green/white bit, have to say frank likes a bit of the green bit and has been known to steal the odd onion from the garden chuck outs wheelbarrow  he doesn't like broccoli although I have known plenty of others who do (so maybe he does have some sense)

eta hasn't something been mentioned about garlic recently too?
