My 3 yr old is unshod at the moment he's always trimmed every 8 weeks but his feet have grown loads in the last couple of weeks and have cracked a bit, guess from the walks up the lane! so I've rearranged the farrier to come out at 7 weeks rather than 8. my shod mares feet don't seem that bad but will get hers done too! has anyone else noticed quicker growing hooves this summer? they weren't this bad last summer!

Yes I think it's quite common for the hooves to grow more in summer. Mine are trimmed every six weeks in summer, but in winter, one of them only tends to need doing every 12 weeks.
