unsound? (video)

He looks uncomfortable. I'm far from qualified enough, or haven't been around the horse to say why. Could be for being unfit, could be lameness, could be back, could be saddle, could be any number of things, far to many to judge from a vid.

If, as you say, you have been asked to 'take him on', I would do the following:
Have all the checks done, back, saddle, teeth blah blah, and maybe even the vet straight away if owners agree?
If all came back ok, or if problems found they were sorted out without major complications, I would ask to get him fit/have a trial run.
I would start lunging/longreining/hacking, gently building his fitness up to see if things improved/got worse, then obviously you make a decision.
If things don't improve or get worse, then I'd leave well alone & advise owners to get the vet out and have him thoroughly assessed.

Now, if by take on, you mean buy and not loan or work with. Then I'm afraid I would stay well away, because then all of the above becomes your responsibility, and I know it sounds awful, but there are plenty more fish in the sea! He does seem a very genuine chappy though, and it would be a shame if he did turn out to have problems :(

agree with other posts, looks lame to me, very uncomfortable hind quaters, doesnt seem to be engaging at all. I would get the vet out to check where abouts its coming from, could be multiple legs and/or back.

Agree with others re; saddle. Also, am suprised no-one has asked, is he shod? My tb who was only shod in front (hoof tested absolutely fine behind) appeared lame mostly in front & occasionally behind & after having shoes on all round he is now 100% sound. Im not saying this is the reason for lameness but feet could be something to do with it.......
