Unsual horse how much?

So deciding whether to sell or knock up:

15.1hh grey mare hano x native type 14 years old.

Not a world beater, hasn't been ridden for 4 years. When up together would do RC and hunt, but wouldn't be very competitive in anything other than low level dressage and XC (IMHO)

Good to shoe, clip etc, good to box away from home, but refused to leave the stallion as was a complete cow when I boxed her 2 years ago!

Her mother was a saint, her father was a hano known for being a bit quirky. Her personality isn't great, not nasty, but not helpful and likes to barge.
 
I wouldn't breed from her, no offence but from what you have said she is not well bred, hasn't achieved a great deal and doesn't have a great personality

Failed to mention father is Int. Grade A, her half brothers are stunners. Her own confirmation is that she is too long in the back, but seeing as it didn't come from dam or sire, what she throws is very nice.

Personality isn't sweet enough to keep as field ornament, as needs regular handling. Is polite, but a grouch (doesn't pull faces, just not very helpful).

If she is well bred her value will increase as she is a more desireable broodmare but in this climate I still don't think they are making mega bucks

I would struggle to see anyone paying 1K for her.
And please. please don't breed from a mare that is does not meet temperment or performance ideals.
You're just producing more crap for the market.
 
Well it was really a how much for a very ordinary riding horse aged 14.

Safe ride, but wouldn't be good enough to do BSJA / BE and the age thing. Does need a pelham to stop with less confident riders.

*Sigh* That wasn't the question, the temperment is that she is a grump nothing else. I know the HHO & BHS hymn book on not breeding rubbish, so no preaching please!
 
Prolly £1000 at the very most, but really unlikely unless someone really wants to be challenged at the lower levels (honestly sounds like I'd love her- I never want to go above 3'3ish and just want to bobble about on a normnal horse). Advertise her at local stuff and she may get £1000.
 
As she's our first born (now 14 ekkkk), and never left home, I think we will keep the old bat. Seems a shame as someone may like her, but at £1k I'd worry about her ending up somewhere nasty.
 
So, if your not going to sell her, will you 'knock her up'? you could find a lovely stallion that has all the right things about it that would 'iron out' the worst things about her and get a great foal, that's what I would do!
 
The grey mare is half sister to the boys I compete.

Yes still got the foal, I haven't ever managed to part with any homebreds.

The foal is 2nd generation, so I'm looking forward to convincing her that she is a show jumper!
 
I don't mind her actually. Sure the photo's not that flattering - so perhaps a little difficult to tell what she looks like.

But as someone who has a very classy animal - that is a little too 'classy' for me - I would say that there is a definate market for the ordinary, safe, little allrounder. And if that is genuinly what she is - then great.

Amy May could be a bit of a witch - but didn't make her any less of a good allround sort of horse......
