unsurance for horse moving to ireland

My horse is going to live in Ireland .We are struggling to find an insurance company to cover him whilst in transit. Pet plan will cover him in uk only, and irish insurance company will cover him once he gets to Ireland. I want him covered from when he leaves here, any ideas anyone please?

Can you not get an exclusion put on temporarily, just while on the open sea? Also, I'm not sure but I think for a 'normal' horse (as in not a racehorse/competition horse) you would be covered under the transporter's own insurance. How do eventers manage when they go over to Punchestown or racehorses to The Curragh, might be worth asking a trainer but your transport company should know anyway.

Transport companies will be able to offer transit insurance not sure how much it will be, if transporting yourself contact Lycetts as they can offer transit insurance CCC its is called

Petplan continued to insure my horse for the journey and the first 28 days in Ireland providing it was not 'permenant move'. Because I was deciding if he would 'settle' during that 28 day period and 'it was only a holiday' it was no problem and he was insured.
Get my drift ??!!

Just out of interest, which Irish insurance compay are you going with? I actually don't insure my horses here (same with a lot of people) because the insurance available is just not worth it - I got a quote of over €2,000 to cover my event horse for 3rd party, theft and straying and loss of use!

Even when I dropped the loss of use it didn't go down much. And the only vet cover you can get is emergency surgery

When I was in Northern Ireland I used a UK company and got full cover including loss of use, full vets fees , personal accident etc for about GBP 200.
