Last summer our gelding was diagnosed with asthma - after a few weeks of inhaled steroids via a nebuliser his breathing was back to normal and (touch wood) he’s had no recurrence so far. His problems started when he moved into a new field for the summer so we think it was triggered by something specific to that field. He’s since moved yards and is living out 24/7.

As we’ve gone past the time of year when it all started last year, do you reckon I’d be safe to sell the nebuliser? It cost a fortune as it wasn’t covered by insurance and although it did its job fabulously well, it’s been sitting unused on the top of my wardrobe for months..

I realise I have now probably jinxed myself and expect to be greeted by a horse breathing ridiculously fast when I get to the yard

If you need the cash, then sell it, but having looked for one second hand for a while I know how valuable they are as I keep missing out on those in my price range. So if you don't need the cash, hang onto it! Asthma absolutely can come and go over the years as hay changes, chemicals change, etc ... My gelding hasn't needed any support with his breathing for over a year, competition fit, etc ... yet I am still on the lookout for that affordable second hand nebuliser.

I am in the same situation. I haven't used it for about a year now but I know the minute I sell it I will need it.

I also think they're a bit scarce at the moment due to something with production st Flexineb. Although there are other brands.
