Unusual Behavior - not sure what to do!

My arab x had a knee surgery a while back, where we discovered gastric ulcers as well. His knee is recovered but he goes into a smaller individual turnout paddock.

Last two days he has started neighing and whinnying at random times of the day and trying to buck in his stable, also hard-core kicking the wall. He doesn't run around when he is turned out, if that helps. He has been on ulcer medication through injection for the last week. He has started ridden work as well for the last two weeks in walk.

Anybody have suggestions, as I am quite stressed. Our vet is going to look at him.m

Was he out with other horses before his knee injury?

It could be that simple: he is missing his friends/feeling vulnerable on his own.

yes he was out with others before, now that you mention, very likely as he loves to be with people and will follow others around anywhere. Thankyou

It sounds like his reacting to being on his own if his used to being turned out with other horses.

Could he go out with just one companion to lessen the risk of running around?

Sounds very unhappy. Definitely missing one or more of the vital three ‘F’s. Freedom friends and forage.

Thankyou everyone, I have spoken to the vet and he is turned out today with a group of friends, hopefully this will change his behaviour
