College thing,have to write a short page on a a breed from each UKKC group.
Everyone will be doing the normal popular ones,so any weird and wonderfull breed idea's?
 
In the Gundog group, my favorutei would be the Chepaseake Bay Retriever, they're unusual over here

Gundog - Chepaseake Bay Retriever

Terrier - Manchester Terrier

Utility - Japanese Shiba Inu! I love these little dogs

Anyway, mine would be:

Hound: Saluki or Afghan - I love them both!

Gundog: Weimaraner

Terrier: Oh gosh, don't like any

Utility: Dalmatian, but not rare enough I guess

With a little help from the KC site, I think I like this Keeshond, though I've never seen one in real life!

Working: Howavart!

Pastoral: Shetland Sheepdog, or Maremma Sheepdog (though the latter is awfully popular where I live in Italy - probably the most common breed! But hopefully not as common in the UK)

Living among a million dogs, I feel like I've seen every breed going, and every possible designer mix.

Some standouts over the years for rarity would be:

Thai Ridgeback
Xoloitzcuintli (yep, I had to google for the spelling
tongue.gif
)
Portuguese Sheepdog
Treeing Walker Coonhound
Bichon Bolognese
Pharaoh Hound

I know that some of above breeds have been around a long time, but aren't necessarily KC recognised. If we're talking rare KC breeds, I would definitely echo the Canaan dog, as I've never come across one of those. Shibas are very common in NYC, as are Boston terriers, but I've only seen a handful in the UK. Never seen a Lancashire Heeler in the flesh, either.
 
Working group - Canadian Eskimo Dog, they are a wonderful complex dog who really excel in harness, they have only just started doing breed classes at shows over here, I can put you in touch with the woman who is responsible for bringing the breed into the country

They are so cute! Being a Lancashire lass, I ought to put them on my list for future consideration.
