Unusual noseband/bit combo!

I used a proper Worcester on one of mine who came to me with a kimblewick and 3 ring gag.
Unsurprisingly, fussy in the mouth, stiff, resistant, and pulled like a train.
Rubber covered snaffle and a Worcester stabilised the bit and took pressure off the mouth. Horse quickly realised I wasn't going to rip their tongue out, settled, and developed breaks and steering remarkably quickly.
Thoroughly dislike the bodge though, nasty pressure points!

Oh ok but why would someone use it? I don’t understand 🤣

I had a horse vetted yesterday, and the vet recommended a bit lifter because the horse (ex harness racer who apparently pulled like a freight train in training/competitions) had changes on the bars, so to elleviate pressure from them I guess.
