Unusual/Wierd Markings

My filly, She has a small patch just in front of her left hind leg on her tummy of white/pale bay (lol) hair.....not sure it will stay or go. Shes by a coloured stallion and as you can see, has minimal colouring.

As a baby

I can see Viking either :(

Osc has a black patch on the side of his face, as does his half sister in the same place, (although hers is very faint and his is very clear) so it must have come from their mum. (they are all chestnut)

That race horse is called The Flying Phantom, because his face markings look like The Phantom of the Opera mask. I remember him as he was so unusual. I read an article in the Racing post by Sue Montgomery i think about his markings. Apparently its often found in Arabs. I think its called a 'blood patch'.

Angrove,

I love these Tb's with white on them, doing a bit of noseying on ABP I see that Oscar (if I have the right one) goes back in time to The Tetrach, as does Puchilingui (and so, True Colour's beautiful Puchi Trap) do you think it is purely coincidental?

not a mark as such... as my mare is a boring bay... but here's her unsusal chestnut - can only assume she's had an injury there at some point..?!

Riding school horse I used to ride was a nice bay with a white blaze and white socks.

On his blaze, he has 4 brown spots that looked like he'd been shot in the head right between his eyes - might be why he's called target! He also has ermine marks on his white socks.

The shetland I learnt on when I was small was black all over apart from a round patch on his belly about the size of a saucer!!

No I think they are sharing a similar Dominant White mutation which has been newly identified in the white TB and the progeny of them ome out with random white marks some of the US guys think its the Splash white gene that is Dominat white and I think so to.
I know that Hyperion is a what was called sabino and that that set of genes seems to travel on the ee Chestnut whilst the Dominat white travels on Black Eso you get horse like Puchilingui that are in fact carring two different colour genes.
The Tetrach seems to me even though he is grey I think is a colour carrier as his children were Mumtaz Mahal so on down to Selene who was Hyperions dam.
Northern Dancer is litterally cant spell it! making a splash!! I love the fact your interested come join the US Pedigree forum its very very interesting here the link.
