And...

I DIDN'T CRY!!

I don't know how, I nearly cried in the middle and at the end but I held it in.
Now I feel cold hearted. :-(

Still think I will cry at the film though! I always cry at animal films..

Don't worry, I didn't cry either. Or maybe we both have hearts of stone!!

Haven't seen the film yet as I have heard good and bad things about it, so not sure if I want to go. May just wait for the DVD.

I had to leave half way through Marley and Me although I found the book boring, so there is still a good chance I will start howling at the Warhorse movie. Oh and I also cried in lassie when the Border Terrier was killed - but then I love Borders!!

I never read Marley and Me, then I watched it and cried my eyes out.
Seen it 5 times, cried everytime.

Yeah, I might wait until it's on DVD too!
:D

I started reading the book a couple of years ago. just so far and thought *yawn* and put it down. Wont be watching the film either.

Loved the book and thoroughly enjoyed the film. Didn't cry in either-maybe I'm just hard hearted. I think if you watch the film you just have to remember that it was taken from a children's book-there are a few mistakes in it but no way did that spoil my enjoyment.

I saw the film, then started to read the book which is probably where I went wrong, but so far I'm not very impressed with the book. Don't 'feel' for the characters. I've nearly finished it.

What does UP: in the thread title mean ?

I saw it on another thread and thought it had sneaked there by mistake. I guess not .

I thought the book was very "shallow" and didn't connect at all with any of the characters as all the scenarios are so short but I guess that as it is a children's book it was unlikely to go into real detail. I have seen a few criticisms of the "extra" bits that Spielberg added to the film but, let's face it, if he had only filmed the book, the film would only have been about three-quarters of an hour long, he had to pad it out somehow. I read the whole book in around an hour and a half!

Okay I think I must be the only one on here that cried the whole way through the book then! Literally sobbing! But then when I was younger I always used to ball my eyes out at black beauty and the like! I havent worked up the courage to go and see the film in the cinema yet as I think I would walk out looking like I'd been beaten up from all the crying I would be likely to do! Going to wait until the DVD I think!

I think if I read the book again I would cry.
But I only want to see the film when it's on dvd.. Don't think I can cope with watching it infront of everyone else.

Seen the film and read the book.

Not overly impressed with either but then, seeing as the book is aimed at children maybe it shouldn't be judged too harshly.

The film was ok. I enjoyed it more than the book.

Aaaah well it was very well written for a childrens book. I won't lie, I did enjoy it and like I said if I read it again I will most likely cry. :{

I read the book then watched the movie, I prefer the movie, I really liked it :) The book was fine but it took me ages to get into it being from the horses POV
