I have recently been looking at a few grooms jobs, and am really interested in one or two.

However, I don't know how to accurately decribe my ability?

I'm looking for employers point of view when it comes to this. I am out and out honest about what I can/can't do and I'm not trying to waste anyones time.

I have ridden a Friesian Stallion, WB gelding, a few TB's, ID, numerous quirky ponies etc. I am a confident rider, will get on anything and have muddled through.

I have not had lessons in approx 4 years. This is primarily dueto having nothing to have a lesson on and nowhere to have the lesson.

I have competed in SJ/XC/WH at local level but again problems with transport and lame ponies have stopped that.

I am desperate to ride and to improve and I feel if given the chance I really could do well in a grooms job.

Current one i'm looking at is riding hunters/tb's, reschooling older tb's and backing youngsters as well as yard duties.

I would *love* to do something like this, but I suppose, ultimately, I don't have the experience.

I am trying to be perfectly hones twith all employers and I was just wondering what anyone here thinks I would be capable of, from what they have read/seen.

Thanks in advance.

I agree with Charlie.
They will more than likely prefer your honesty, and even if they think that your not as qualified as other candidate's, this may work to your advantage, they will be able to teach you how they want things done. Where as a more experienced groom could be quite set in there ways already. As long as you feel that you are a competent enough rider, and express that you are willing and able to learn whatever they have to teach you, and are hard working etc.

I say go for it. The worst they can say is no thankyou. If this happens it may be disheartening for a while, but if you never apply, you'll always be wondering what if....

Go for it!! Loads of lucky vibes, and let us know how you get on.
