Update about the man who dragged dog behind his car

Utter *******s and yet again the police fail to do their job properly! I hope someone finds this man and kicks seven bells out of him!!

He ran over the dogs lead? If they truly wish to put this to bed they do need to accurately depict what happened - particularly as it was originally supposed to be a domestic incident

Im not sticking up for anyone and it made me feel sick when i read what had happened, but about 9 years ago one of my dogs got run over he got dragged down the road screaming ( his lead was wrapped around the back wheel somehow) i will never forget the sound, thank god a load of people were stood at the bottom of the road and they jumped out and stopped the car. The old man had no idea and once he saw what had happend went into total shock.

Luckly we had a happy ending and Ace only had sore paws lost some nails and a few scratches.

I heard this the other day, apparantly,, the dog was being looked after while owners was on holiday, dog escaped from walker and the car came along, lead got caught round car and poor dog got dragged.. :-/
But yesterday i was told it was a domestic and he dragged the dog as revenge on his wife.
so totally confussed.com :-/

This is why it is best left to the police and the judiciary and not listening to gossip Tico.
Wish some posters on here would stop beating on the police, they can only work with the evidence that is handed to them.
If you want to uphold and make the law, join the cops or go to law school or even better, become a politician and help make the policy, and show us all how it should be done!

Tragic, but if that is the truth then why would you dump the body?? If I was in his shoes I would be devastated but I would have done the right thing and would have called the police as soon as I realised what had happened. I am sure it is possible for an accident like this to happen (as someone's said, it did happen to the) but the way he dealt with it once he realised seems odd ot me - wonder why they haven't explained that bit?

Whatever the reason a poor dog has died a horrific death with no come back. Would this be the case if a child got ' caught' by its toddler reins and dragged to its death.

I think not.

well said, amazing what the media and rumour mongers can try to imply to make something more interesting and newsworthy!

i think there's a huge difference between the death of a child and that of a dog, sorry but as much as i love all my 3 dogs they do not equal my children.

As far as I'm concerned anything that can feel pain and horror should be protected by the law. No-one is saying dogs are more important than children but why does it have to be one or the other why can't both species not be equally protected under the law.

while i agree to a point it would be far too complicated to impose such protection, and where would it end, would we be hauled into court for hitting a pheasant or rabbit on the road, they feel pain as much as a dog:confused:

No you could no more impose sanctions on those wild animals than birds in the sky but any cruelty should be punished.

Domestic animals should be afforded protection because they are part of a family and therefore the distress to the owners should be a factor. It would kill me if I ever thought my dogs died in that fashion, accident or not and either way he shouldn't get away scot free.

Are we really saying he didn't hear that dog screaming behind him ?

Makes me shudder to think what he went through.

Sorry, but I think the "explanation" is b*ll$hit. He dragged the dog for SIX MILES so I cannot believe that he didn't know/notice. I would have thought, also, that other motorists would have flashed their lights or sounded their horns at him to alert him to the situation.

even if the lead got catch (which i dont believe), how can someone NOT NOTICE something like that, dont he use his mirrors!!. as he didnt get done this this act he should at least be done for careless driving, if it was a person the book would be thrown at him.

You can't see a dog tied to a bumper in the mirrors when you are driving along as my friend found out when he took his family out for a picnic and one of the children had a paddy when they were trying to load everyone back into the car, which caused more than a bit of a distraction. They must have gone for a mile or so. Mind you their first action on realising was to pick the dog up and rush it to the vets where it was treated for damage to pads, paws and nails as well as lacerations to its body. The dog survived and my friends were absolutely devastated at their carelessness.

A prosecution in that case would have served no good purpose - they would never have done it on purpose and it never happened again.
