I posted a week ago about a friends mare that was bridle lame on one rein only... this is the action she has organised so far:-

1. Visit by McTimoney
2. Saddler out again to check fit
3. Debating if to use vets or EDT for teeth check - she has had both do the horse in the past year
4. Blacksmith due sat - so she will get him to check for any signs of gravel or an abcess
4. Then pull in the vets if no improvement

any other suggestions or would you go about it in a different way?

Does she have lessons?

Otherwise I would add a lesson with a decent instructor to rule out the fact that it maybe your friend sitting unevenly that is causing the problem.

A good saddler should be able to see that too though.

My friends horse was 'bridle lame' on one rein only but sadly further investigation after it kept coming up on dressage test sheets shown he had suspensary ligament problems. Its so slight you'd hardly notice and in the field he looks sound.

Does it improve once warmed up?
My horse was dreadfully bit lame but has improved with schooling. He can still be prone to it but improves when ridden through it. I have had Mctimoney and Bowen done on him. Neither practitioner found anything, in fact one said that my boy was one of the best conditioned (muscle wise) that she had seen. At the beginning of the year, I started using a lady called Sue Connolly who does Equine Muscle Release Therapy. She is extremely thorough in her assessment, very reasonable price wise and the results have been incredible. I just wished I had found her sooner. She's based in Warks but travels all over the country. PM me if you would like her details.
