Previous- strained ligament in stifle on the right, pulled quad muscle on the left by compensating, ligament healed but muscle still sore, making him look lame on the trot to walk transition only, 2 weeks walking inhand over poles to help it. (also while on 3 months box rest)
Had him checked and he looked 100% better so we had to ok to put him out
Couldnt put him in a tiny field as he just stands on the spot bucking and rearing (tryed that before) which is worse for his stifles, decided to put him in his own field with his bestest friend, galloping is better for stifles then bucking/rearing, so bigger field was the best option
Gave him 30 ACP tabs
and he looked lovely and sleepy in the stable, he walked very slowly to the field so i thought brill!! Got him in the field, still looked very sleepy
Took headcollar off and
Jack was back!!....
I thought bugger it..
So the plan was, 3 days out, then lunge and see what the damage was.
Lunged him and it was clear he was lame again on his left side (quad muscle), which isnt AS bad as i thought. He has stayed OK on the right (ligament). Had a chat to the physio, and vet. Both said time to work him.. Muscle needs work and he should improve in time.
Hes back is all fine, saddler is due on Tues morning, then, let the work begin
Think he may kill me
Just wondering if any of you have had to work a horse through something? We are only going to be walking over poles, doing some lateral work in walk, and the week after, do some trotting in straight lines. At that stage he will be checked again to see what happening with him... I hate the thought of me making him worse... Do muscles get better being worked? Any experience anybody?
Sorry its long, i do like to think i have covered everything
