Took some pics of the ginger beast at the weekend so thought would post them.

Generally am very pleased with Alfie,he's a lovely puppy and still amazes me with his reaonably calm and attentive nature (this is probably not a big deal for most dog owners, but this is an irish setter we're talking about lol:p).He has his mad moments, and sometimes they're much longer than moments lol,but overall he is proving to be a very happy but not too bouncy puppy that listens and has even shown glimpses of intelligence and ability to be trained (again not a big deal for most but quite a thing for a setter!!).

Took him to the beach on sunday,he loved it!! OH got him to go in the sea, which he seemed to love as kept doing it every two mins after that (although sat there shivering like a wuss afterwards lol),I am not so pleased with this as I was at the time,as this morning on his walk he jumped into the stream and got wet and smelly,he has developed a taste for the water it seems:rolleyes:.
I forgot to take any pics of him having a hoon around on the beach, but got a couple of him sharing OH ice cream afterwards (he only had a lick or two,as not sure if dogs are supposed to eat ice cream but felt mean all sat there scoffing and poor Alfie watching lol).Took a couple of him today after his second bath in two days just because he looked clean and shiny lol

Anyway will shut up waffling now,and post some pics, thanx for reading and hope you like:)

Thanks so much for the nice comments:)

:D what a lovely boy!!!! setters are such cheerful, happy go lucky dogs and if yours has a calm temperament, you are VERY lucky.....

He is very much a happy and cheerful lad, typical setter in that respect, everyones friend and up for anything!!

He's just not got that mad streak which makes it difficult to do anything with them,he has moments where he acts bonkers but on the whole he does listen and can act calm and sensible when told,a trait I've not personally come across before in a setter,of course it could just be that I've known mad as hatter ones lol

ETA: fogot to say thanks to last poster for the ice cream info,I will stop worrying that he shouldn't have had it now!!

He's lovely, just like our Barney 6 years ago!
It took him about 2 years to start calming down, he's fine now, and absolutely loves you giving him affection ALL the time!
People used to comment on him as a pup when out walking saying 'you've got your hands full' but I wouldn't hesitate in having another any day.
Best dog I've ever had.

Thanks again everyone for the nice comments:),he is a sweety bless him, even if he is all legs and ears at the moment lol

Kind of ironic but when on the beach some guy made a point of coming up and saying hello to the ginger one,and commented on how well behaved he was, that was a novelty in setter terms lol.Good job he didn't see him a few mintes later mind when he was leaping in and out the sea like a loon:p

Agreed they are great dogs, although maybe a bit of an aquired tatste;)
