**Update** Diamond in the rough Pt.2 - PICTURE HEAVY

Wow! What a difference already, and how trusting of him - Sounds and looks like you really do have a wee gem there! Sell him on? Yeah right ;) :p

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO definitely sold on! Although I've worked out I would just about would have enough grass in winter with him as well, I'd rather not have another horse through winter! Definitely a no-more than 3 horses in winter person!
2 of us entered into this pity-pony thing! So we can egg each other on to be strong :eek: He'd make a cracking kids pony. Nothing phases him. Cars, dogs, tight spaces, tractors.. And sadly he's far too small for me to ride! :o

Aw bless him, he's very cute and very lucky to have been found by you, wishing you many happy times together!

Oh he's gorgeous! looks good weight wise unless all the fluff s deceiving? The bald patches I would have said they were urine burns, just by where they are looks as if he'd been lying in his own urine

He is just lovely. He reminds me of the pony i learnt to ride on as a child (Jaunty), same markings and sweet face.

Think he realises hes a lucky boy.

Good luck with him, look forward to more updates.

Pedantic bit first- it's cue, not queue. ;)

He looks lovely. I think he's going to be very smart. He has a very sweet face.

Does he have a bit of a club foot behind? I keep seeing it but can't tell if it's just an optical illusion in the pics! It's his back right foot.

Oh dear, I have tears on my cheeks. The only thing I can say is - thank you for taking him on ! What a gorgeous little thing. Touched my heart. :)

He's going to be stunning!

I'd be giving him a good old soaking with coopers as a precaution for lice just in case, plus it's a coat gloss so will help with the grooming side of things.

Hmmmm from the pictures I can see exactly what you mean. None of us (including my observant farrier) have noticed it. I really don't know the little love well enough to think off memory either.. I'm tempted to get out of bed and look now! I'm sure he hasn't though, that's something we'd have definitely spotted!

Oh god my shopping list for the tack shop just got longer

Just shown hubs his pics, and told him that "THAT" is what I want to when we get some land - he nodded nicely ;) I only mean one or two.......

Haha well if you had the land by, say August, you know.. ;);) *ducks and hides before she gets reported to TFC for advertising*

That also means 2 of you to egg each other on the keep him and split the costs :p And you've already worked out you'd have enough grass in winter :o

What's his stable name :D

Yeah and 2 of us to egg each other on whilst we sand our legs down so we can ride the little git! :D:D:D

We're calling him Bailey. His passported name is AWFUL so going along with the liqueur theme we're thinking of changing his 'proper' name to On The Rocks!

I used to work for the RSPCA, and what I secretly would love to do is to provide a safe house - where serious cruelty cases can be whisked off to. I always admired a couple (farmers) in Surrey who took in horses for me, once 13 unbroken and emaciated with an hour's notice, and I have always wanted to do the same - just once at least - in my lifetime. I have lost contact now, but they were very special people.

They sound like fantastic people!
If I ever came into a good deal of money my dream would be a sanctuary/rehab centre.

Yes, they weren't the only ones - all across my patch, people were there to take in and maybe "hide" horses. And if anyone is in a position to do this, even for just one night, it might be worthwhile doing - IF they can cope with the fact that a recovered horse may have to go back to the owner if they win they case

He is lovely and looks so much better already

the bare patches look self inflicted to me so some irritation somewhere, if not lice/mites then maybe an allergy or even just the irritation of that moulting coat perhaps?

He's gonna be a real stunner! (He obviously knows this already, giving his reflection wolf whistles..;) I love the gay abandon field pics-a very happy pony:)

Thanks for all your comments! :)

Took him for a 5 mile walk today, absolutely nothing phased him. The only thing he even took note of was a grid, all he did was stop and nosey for 2/3 seconds and then walked on again! He is safe as houses! Tractors, barking dogs, artic lorries, speeding cars, cyclists, motorbikes.. Good as gold!

Think we're going to look for a small lightweight rider to back him and then if all goes well loan/lwvtb or sell at some point.

He takes absolutely everything in his stride he really is a one off!!

Try a wanted ad on the pony club website, pretty sure you'll find some gutsy little riders. Some great PC's around you.

Oh my god I LOVE HIM! And I love you for rescuing him, what an absolute doll he is! Love the thought of him talking to himself in the windows haha :D
