Update (for those following) had the back lady out today

The back lady (Oesteo) has been out to see my horse today. Unfortuantely I couldn't be there as had last minute appointment for daughter to see specialist (another story which no need to go into). Anyway left horse with back lady and YO. My YO has filled me in as follows. She worked on the areas that she found to be problamatic: the shoulders and his back. Nothing serious but I need to increase the muscle on his back. I need to push him forwards more on the lunge and when riding so that he can work his back. Otherwise I will finish up with a horse with a dipped back.
Am going to call the back lady tonight to make sure thats all I need to know.
Any other tips on building up the muscle on his back?
 
Try some cavaletti exercises. Can really help the horse develop the right muscles. Don't set them too high, too far apart and don't overdo the practice session. Rise to the trot, so your horse can move his back properly going over them. Good luck:)
 
pessoa/chambon. lunging over raised poles. general working long and low. get you saddle checked to make sure he is able to work through his back when ridden. they can adjust it to allow for muscle over the back.
 
Can't add to what is said above, poles hills etc - always nicely striding out!
It might also be worth getting your saddle fitter to check it out. A saddle that doesn't fit quite as it should can also cause muscle to atrophy or prevent it building up correctly.
