i think BB's has put a post on the post from last night, saying he was looking a bit brighter but was very poorly last night but i think that's all unless there's been futher update's
Was thinking of posting but i didn't want to jinx him!
Thank you everyone for your kind words.
I spent a freezing night in the lorry
Was all very scary. Never seen Finnus that bad, when i arived at the yard he was wedged upside down in the corner of his stable.
We struggled to get him to stand up for long enough for the vet to sedate him. He just kept throwing himself down, not caring whether we where in the way and laying with his legs in the air.
Finally got a little sedation in and trotted him straight in to the arena, where he threw himself down again and then sat like a dog. Vet gave him more sedation and managed to examine him.
She was convinced it was surgical, because of the state he was in. Gave him a mild pain killer and we agreed to review him in 1 hr. If he went down again we would take him to Newbury straight away.
Anyway, he stood stock still for 45 mins then decided he fancied some snacks and started nibbling around the edge of the school! Vet amazed that he recovered so quickly!
Went to BB's to see doggy and got myself fed
Went back to check him at 8pm, he was very quiet and no poos
Vet came back out at 10.30pm as by then he had only managed to one pile of hard droppings (since 4pm) and was shaking violently, despite being loaded in rugs. He also drank 5 drinker fulls of water and one bucket full
in one go.
Vet had a really good feel around and couldn't find anything, so agreed prob still just spasmodic colic. Gave him more pain killer and corticosteroid, for shock.
I left him with light on so i could keep and eye in him form luton in the lorry
. Got up at 1.30am and he had done another poo. So gave him a handful of hay and switched all lights off for him to sleep.
Got up at 6.30am and he looked brighter, so gave him some fibre cubes and coligone and hay, which he ate and picked at hay. Put him on the walker and back to bed.
He wasn't really interested in hay when i left and wasn't pulling faces....not usually a good sign. Have given him some bute this morning and will go back to see him at lunch.
Am exhausted.
and totally amzed he has no injuries other than 2 huge swellings on his bottom and a scrape around his eye!
Oh no, poor Finn - I am really sorry to hear this, but glad he's feeling a bit better. Hope he carries on improving, and is back to his usual face-pulling grumpiness soon.
