Murphy put his ears back when people walk past the stable, he will even sometimes bite you - if you are one of the silly people who continue feeding him treats! (grr)

Murphy is NOT bothered about being in his stable, he waits at the gate to come in every night - so I use that as my indicator as to wether he minds coming in.

Murphy can bite you. If he bit someone I would expect him to get a smack. Then I would expect the person to tell me about it, so that I can decide what measures to take. I would NOT expect someone to take it upon themselves to discapline my horse. And if I knew that was what they were doing, I would have no issues smacking them in the mouth, even if they were a 10 tonne big bertha. No issue.

I personally think most horses aren't pleased about being stabled. Im all for keeping horses out 24/7. IMO a horse putting their ears back etc. suggests he is not happy and that he must be stressed during the "busy times". Lots of horses are like this, like you said, but doesnt make it ok. The fact that your horse has been handled badly in a stable in the past would make me think he would be left with stable-related issues as a result, even if he is treated nicely now, therefore Id be doing everything in my power to turn him out as much as possible, if not permanently.

WelshRareBit - No offence, but maybe (I say MAYBE!) the reason your horse comes to the gate as if wanting to come in, could be purely because he gets a feed / hay in his stable... so its that he wants, not the stable.

LucyAnn, overall NOBODY has a right to smack your horse. Hopefully this girl will get her 3rd warning so she can get turfed out! Great news if she does!

Nobody should hit your horse, that should be dealt with.
You said your horse hated being in the stable, so presumably you were telling the truth, why get upset when people believed you? You've had a change of opinion, that's fine too.
