for those who might remember me posting about my new horse and finding out his old owner spent 2 years trying to compete but getting eliminated at 2ft every time.

took him combined training yesterday (dressage and SJ) and yes he definitely DIDNT behave himself, i lost count of bucking at about 15 in the warm up, trying to get as many in a row as possible! great fun. he was the strongest he had ever been and kicked and bit my OH which he's never done before, but aside from waking up on the wrong side of the bed and scaring a few of the fellow competitors (would migrate to the other side of the warm up when he started off on a tantrum) he surprised us all in the actual test and jumping!

though my back and hands are now killing me from him fighting the whole way around the dressage and he was stiff and overbent, we came third!! and in the SJ he only had one refusal! (very scary brick wall!) which is our best result to date! so we came third combined aswell :D

i am so proud of my boy, all thats left is to sort out the XC and we can be out eventing as i had hoped we would :D

NO ELIMINATION! :D

That's brilliant! You must have worked so hard to get him to that stage, and it can be horribly frustrating... If it's a glimmer of hope, my sister had a pony who hadn't completed a course of fences in nearly 3 years due to a nasty stop but after 3 months they were going out and winning 1.10m!

thanks! i was starting to either reconsider his career or if he was suitable for me and he takes ALOT of riding to get him going well, it has been a struggle XD n yep, there's always hope :D

thanks to those who were nice n supportive with good advise :) its really helped me knuckle down with him :)

Well done you. Sounds like you've done realy well with him. :D I hope he continus to improve for you. Keep up the good work and soon there'll be no stopping you both. :D:D:D:D:D
