Well, I have told YM I cannot (will not) pay 4k for her. She didn't answer phone, and no voicemail, so had to send a text.

Spoke to OH last night about that, and my car and money (and other issues I am having to deal with) and its just not the right time. :(
I can't believe Horlicks won't be there for me to tittervate or ride (sooner or later) but I have to be honest with my self and face the fact that I cannot afford it at the moment. I am so upset... but there will be others out there, when the time is right. :o

Maybe YM will find it hard to sell her, and come back with a better price... maybe she'll let me have cheaper livery as she wants me to compete Horlicks... Maybe??

Anyone who wins the lottery... please think of me ;)

Thank you to all who replied to my last post and for all your great advice, I really appreciate it, and hopefully one day I will bombard PG with pics of MY new horse.

xx

That is a shame, but I have a sneaky feeling she will struggle to sell her for that.
I'm also sure it's better to buy when the time IS right rather than to have a millstone of debt worry/potential vet fee worry - especially if she's 'off the road' as seems to happen a touch too frequently IMHO (as viewed from the touchline)

Fingers crossed either way that she's available when you can afford OR a better horse comes your way when the time is right.

I'm just off to the village to do my weekly shop, so will buy a lottery ticket (don't usually!)

Very sorry to hear that, have you thought about paying in installments for her?

Perhaps you were not meant to have her as you will find one which you like even more :) that happened to me when I was looking for my current horse and looking back at it I'm glad we didn't get the one we couldn't afford.

read your last thread but didnt leave comment, so so so glad you didnt give her the amount she wanted xx i feel it was a lot of money for what you were getting and also felt that she was probably playing on the fact that you had feelings for the horse.
i only recently felt the need to believe it the old saying 'whats for you, wont go past you' x good luck xx

Oh no!

Was just wondering how things were going. That's really disappointing.
But like you say, maybe she will lower her price eventually (I wouldn't be surprised!) and if not, there will be other horse out there that you will learn to love as much as you do horlicks.

I used to think I'd never find a horse that could match my first loan horse (Rosie' mum) and then Rosie came along and she's even better!!

Keep your chin up!
x

Lippyx just a suggestion as having read your posts about Horlicks its so so plain to see how much you LOVE this horse. Could you scrape together all the money you can in CASH (to what you think Horlicks is worth) and go to YM with this in your hand and say this is what I've got you can have it now if I can have Horlicks now, sometimes someone actually seeing that sort of cash there ready straight away will say ok, do some maths to, i don't know what you where hoping to pay for her, but you could say something like, look this is X£'s right away, so no advertising costs, no more feed/bedding/shoeing etc etc which could add up to more than the difference to your price and hers. If she won't throw the tack in with this then I'm sure you'll be able to find some for her at tack sales, ebay etc etc at a resonable price.
If you go down this road GOOD LUCK and fingers crossed for you :)
In the mean time if I win the lottery I'll send some your way hun, as I've been there to xx

I read your last post and in honesty if I went to see her and was told all that u told me I wouldnt buy her, well, not for any real money. You take a risk anyway by buying a horse and one that has known problems IMO isnt worth the risk unless for cheap enough money. Obviously the situation is different for you as you know the horse. There are plenty of nice quality horses for sale at the mo and I have a feeling too that she may be on the market for a little while at £4k.

Flamehead - No reply yet. I have a feeling she is either teaching students or riding? What should I do if I don't get a reply at all today? Leave it? Try to call again tomorrow or next week?

Dubsie - Aw, thanks, good luck with lottery!! :D

Koko - Its not just the buying her, its the looking after. Plus she is looking for "quick cash" so installments aren't an option. I am just telling my self its all happening for a reason, as like everything in my life so far... just hope its because something better is coming along, and not becuase in a few months I'll be jobless or something!!

I'd just leave it. Horlicks will never pass a 5-stage, she'll never sell her for 4000. She'll get back to you. xxxx

DOn't look at this as the end of the road but the opening salvo in negotiations! There is no way she will sell Horlicks for 4k, it just isn't going to happen. She could be yours yet.

Thanks Flamehead... I will hold out. I'm just worried she may not have got my text, but then she will see she has a missed call from me, so she could call me back.

Indiat... Yes, its like a game now I guess. I will see what happens!

I'll just have to ask to ride her every week until she is sold (if she does get sold!!) :D

Having read your last post I think £4k is a very high price unless there's something I'm missing. I would not even consider shelling out that much under the circumstances - in this market I think she may struggle to sell at that price, tbh.

I have had to watch horses I loved walk away due to a lack of funds too, and I know how horrid it is:(

I hope this works out for you, I do think £4k is too much and things may go your way in the end:)

I hope I'm not out of line here, and I certainly don't know your circumstances, but if I'd waited for the 'right' time, I'd never have bought my mare (or probably any horse!).

Like you previously described Horlicks, she is my one in a million horse and I wouldn't want to part with her for the world.

Obviously I'm not advocating paying over the odds for Horlicks, or ignoring any soundess issues, or being irresponsible if your circumstances mean that you really cannot take her on.

But if it's just a question of things being a little tight, you'll find a way! I've cut back on everything else in my life, and even started a business as well as working full time to pay for her, but it's a million percent worth it.

Just my thoughts though - I do hope it all works for you :)

this is so sad...... you clearly love Horlicks and I hope that they find it v hard to sell her so you can keep on looking after her and competing her and then finally get offered a v reduced price by the end of the summer and can accept it!! but also you are very sensible which is highly commendable, and are thinking with your head, not just your heart, which shows you truly do love horlicks lots.

Fingers crossed it'll work out in the end. I believe in fate, if it's meant to be, and the right thing for you, it will happen xxxxxxx
