Update, horse accident in Leeds, still need help

If this guy collected scrap metal in his white van, and crashed it and injured himself meaning he couldn't care for his tethered ponies would we all be rushing to donate money then?

I can assure you now, this stallion will have been earning him plenty in covering fees. The guy is well known in the travelling community.

.

I hope we would help anyone who could not care for their horses. Is there a rule that says that in an emergency only those from certain backgrounds deserve our help. I hope not

Thankyou lucky lady, you are entitled to your opinion.
How ever people can make their own minds up on wether they want to help or not, if they dont then thats fine its totally their decision.

I don't know, is there? Who mentioned anything about only helping people from certain backgrounds? Certainally not I, so please do not suggest that I did.

What I said was:
It's hardly an emergency when the guy has the money and contacts to care for his own animal. It just happens to be that those contacts are in the travelling community. That could be the asian community for all I care, mentioning the fact is happens to be a minority community does not make me racist... thankyou :)

Oh, so you ARE thread monitor.

Is it a bit like being a lunchtime monitor or a bus monitor? Do you feel all important getting to tell others what to do? Do you snitch to the teacher too?

Is it terribly exciting? :D :p

Then why mention his ethnic background at all

Really heartwarming - how nice to see horse owners without prejudice who are able to recognise other horsemen whatever their circumstances and background might be. And who go the extra mile to help them out.
That is one of the great things about horsemanship which I have always enjoyed.

If I were nearer, i would help too.
But thanks. for cheering up my day - hope it goes well for horse and owner.

Lovely to see that people can pull together even those that could not help offering kind words, well done all who helped, do think it is a shame about some of the comments if you can't help why mar the situation with negativity. but hey ho all came good in the end and thats what matters

Ok, change that to 'he's a well known stallion owner in his community'. His background is pretty relevant when he doesn't offer his stallion's services outside of his community. I love it when people pull the racism card

I've seen a few get stung here helping out a needy person and then things turning out to be not quite what they thought they were. But go ahead... it doesn't matter to me :)

I'm not on this forum to be lovey dovey and make friends, so it matters not one iota what someone thinks of me for my opinion. And that's all it is, MY opinion. Big meany :D or not.

helo, LL if we make a mistake and things arent what we think then we will learn by our mistakes as i said earlier, its up to the individual if they want to help or not.
I dont want this thread to turn into a slanging match, yes you are entitiled to your opinion and once again thankyou, im sure youve got your thoughts accross.

We've achieved allot today with everyones help and i cant thankyou all enough.
He is at his new foster home and he is being very well cared for, the owner came and met with Amazona earlier and bless him he is speechless and cant believe how people are rallying round and willing to help, he really shouldnt be out and about by the sounds of it, apparantly he is covered in brusies and he has lost part of his scalp. He is truely very gratefull and i for one am thrilled that i could be of assistance, even if ive only just been sat at the computer all day relaying messages and trying to sort things out.

Amazona is now on her way home after a very tiering day, she has told me that the lady that has him is lovely and is one hundred per cent sure the horse will be well cared for, if she wants to come foreward then that her dicision.
Id just like to say if theres anything you need for John Boy and i have it you are more than welcome to it, just let me know, thankyou for beinjg such a star. x

Hopefully we will have some pics later as well :-)

I am home very tired but very happy with what we have acheived today ... A huge THANK YOU to all who are helping
just to focus on why we are doing this
... this horse was yes earning his keep collecting scrap in leeds city centre... unfortunatly he spooked at something and bolted where his owner/Driver was thrown under the trap and hit by the car following behind... this poor horse then managed to bolt approx 2 miles through city traffic until he collided with steel signage on a roundabout so hard it catapulted him out of the shafts!!! he then continued to gallop another 2 miles into an industrial estate where me and the police found him ... we then hear this man picked himself up off the road and continued to hobble 1 1/2 miles with a gapeing head wound and other severe injuries to his body and legs - refusing to stop for treatment from the ambulances following behind until they could convince him his horse was caught and in safe hands...

... for this effort from his owner and understanding the seriousness of the injury this horse has sustained I whole hearted feel this horse deserves the help we can all offer.
...I am certainly glad I was able to help and will continue to do so for John boy xxxx

Very classy reply.

You and Amazona should be proud of yourselves. I hope that people like you are around if I'm ever in trouble!

Also allot of people are kindly offering to make donations towards his vet bill, so i am trying to sort something out and will keep you posted. x
