Vet phoned last night - he has managed to lattice and stitch half the wound. It took him 4.5 hours :eek::eek: Plan is that he will see how it is on Friday and if looks promising then do the other half.

He also said he is conscious of costs but wants a good result so we could negotiate afterwards a sensible number. Sounds promising though.

Sounds like she's in very good hands, and your vet sounds very fair too. Hopefully it will be worth the time he's spent doing it and i'm crossing fingers, toes and eyes for you!

Bless him for trying to take the heat off money wise. If he minimises it and then maybe you pay some and then some monthly then hopefully it will be OK. Great that he is having a go. At least if this doesnt work you will know there really was nothing else that could be done, and you will have that peace of mind for you and your mare.

Wow, sounds very promising! Keeping fingers crossed Scareymare. I'm sort of new here would you mind me asking what her breeding is and who she's in foal too.

She is KWPN Perion (Faust Z) out of Kasandra - none of which means anything to me I'm afraid. Her grandfather seems to have been a brown donkey (Donkerbruin!!!). There are some things like Furioso in there too and Lucky boy but as I say all dutch to me. She is in foal to Silverstone VDL though if I had my time again after this nightmare I would have defo put some Irish in there!

Hi all

The wound has been grafted on both sides using what skin left. Proud flesh has been cut off. The first side of the graft failed as skin was too far gone due to the first vets errors. The second half looks great. She is coming home tomorrow:):):) and vet is confident (reasonably) that she would have a future as a brood mare. He will not be drawn on her ridden career as too early to tell. She has been an absolute star and no sedations etc necessary. So good job I didn't PTS really. Have also got my £1500 bill from first vets reduced to £690 (subject to approval) so pretty happy really. Will post more pics soon!
