After posting the other day about my new filly and looking for any new methods of getting her to like me seeing as yesterday she just didnt want to know me and looked at me like the piece of poo on the sole of her hoof..

We have, I say rather tentatively, made friends, not best buddies as yet, shes not really talking to me really, but we had a fantastic bonding session tonight, we had grooming, i put my arm over her back and tickled her side and I ran my hand down every leg several times, bit of kicking but by then end it was all good :D

Im very happy! She is shy, but full of curiosity which I think is a great sign. Id rather that than a young one thats full of themselves and nips and kicks.. Im sure we have that to come in the terrible 2s....

P.S Thank you to whoever suggested a rubber massager, I had one already and did a far better job at scratching and tickling than my fingers did.. and also removed a good amount of foal fluff too.. 2 birds 1 stone :)

Those massagers are brilliant for all horses, but specially shy ones. I am so cross I have lost mine (actually it was 'borrowed') and I can't seem to find another.

I love making friends with shy babies, she will be fine if you keep on as you are and don't ask more than she can mentally give.
