Well shes all booked in for next wednesday to go in for a scope to see if shes has any sort of tumor or polyp which is causing her to bleed. im really nervous ive never had to take any of my horses into hospital, I no its probable a routine thing but im hoping shes ok, and it was just a one off?

Sorry for the (feeling sorry for myself post) but no one at work seems to care as there not horsey!

My horse suffers from nosebleeds, not often and they come out of the blue, may have one or two in a month then nothing for over 6 months+. I had her scoped and xrayed this year after a particularly bad one and they found nothing, just put it down to weak cells.

Hope your horse is ok

could be gutteral pouch infection/ulcer. Very hard to diagnose even with scoping as it is hard to get the scope into the gutteral pouch.

GP infection/ulcer will cause intermittent bleeding - usually down one nostril - and can happen whilst at rest in the stable

my old horse had this - cure was to move him away from pollution - once he moved away from living 500 yards from a major motorway and out into the countryside with no car pollution he never had another nosebleed

pollution and it's effects on animals is a very under investigated field in my view.
