hi everyone, first thank you to all for your advise and support.
i went to the local press about what happened as a friend is a reporter. the outcome of her phone calls is that north wales police have no record of the incident !! she then asked if they had found the Shetland that was stolen (this was the reason for stopping me) they have no record of a Shetland being stolen !!!!! and as i was stupid enough to hand the 'producer' in when i showed his passport. i don't have any evidence of the incident. great looks like its gonna be a cover up.

a long shot but try using the data protection act.. as in theory they may be holding an electronic record of the request either now or at some point when they get round to inputting it. I will ask my police colleagues how the data is held.

Any "in job" or "ex job" like to comment on this scenario and how to get it resolved, this posting isn't adding any positive vibes to my allready negative ones regarding plod

When I saw your last post my thoughts were they were just being power crazy idiots. They were using their uniforms to intimidate you because you signalled to them they were idiots. I agree with pedantic that some police ARE idiots, but not all. Unfortunately, as with all professions, the bad ones spoil it for the rest.

Personally i would go hell for leather to show them up. It may not get you anywhere personally but may well make this police force take action behind the scenes. These PCs were using the power of their uniforms to bully you. They are discrediting the police force and should be brought to book.

Two points here.......
1) All chances of a formal complaint and a written apology are now blown!!! Taking action and going to the local rag does your cause no good..... Don't expect to get any further.... your now unlikely to resolve this matter or get any apology etc.
If you have a genuine complaint regarding an incident like this, it is best to follow the procedure and start the paper trail, which has to be followed through to audit level! Do it right..like Naturally and you get results... to the level of drivers being sent for further training! Do it this way and you just send them into hiding.

2) THE ONLY WAY to prove your attendance.....
You went to the front desk and explained to the enquiry officer the situation.....it is a legal requirement that they record your attendance and confirm details of the documents produced.....which must be recorded and frowarded on to the officer who stopped you, in order prosecution can be carried forward or the matter resolved and closed.
If denial is actually taking place......
You have the legal right to request a copy of all cctv evidence/ camera recording footage.... taken of you in the premises at the time of your visit. When you request it, it will be denied under a section of the Data Protection Act (probably section ** of 81). When Denied, you then have the right to VIEW the footage at a time of there choosing, it is possible to DEMAND that you view all footage taken of you, as is your right under the Data Protection Act.
You may need a solicitor to get access....however it is a right, when viewed and you appear on the screen.... ask to see the duty inspector....and ask why the paper work you are seen to hand over....as now DISSAPPEARED, then ask for a level 1 audit investigation to take place as you suspect fraud.
Expect to be hassled if you follow it thru this far!!!

Good Luck

There will be a carbon copy of the producer in the book of producers that the officer filled in, therefore they do indeed have a record of it being issued. If they did not have copies how could they ever follow up on those that were not produced?

Okay the original or top copy goes to data handling and in the case of West Mids goes on a computerised log which the front office staff update when the documents are produced. The driver/rider gets a carbon copy which they tend to hand in on production. There are usually two further carbon copies which officers can retain for their own notes and most do so until they are reasonably sure there's no problem with the production.

If someone doesn't produce or their documents are incorrect the data handling people send the original producer and notification to the officer who then generates the necessary summons paperwork.

Hope that helps, I still think it's a bit of a farce that he gave you a producer for your passport

Pedantic, dear...you just cannot use the word "twat" on here, as it just shows you to be "semi-iliterate"!

I've only just read the first post, but what bloody idiots. They were clearly bullied at school and too thick to get into the Air Force or something.

I've also discovered that the passports
are a farce more than once. When I was given a horse 3 years after they came into force, I was able to simply apply for one without proof of ownership. I've only once travelled a horse WITH his passport (we were moving him, so everything was in the trailer) and the vet has seen both of my ponies, never asking to see the passport for either. That was money well spent, then...

All I can say is be careful if you want to take it further. Make sure you record every incident/conversation etc and watch your back. I've seen what happens when someone tries to make a complaint against the police and they cover it up....it's shocking what lengths they will go to in order to 'get back at you'. Probably not every police force is like this, but there are more dodgy coppers than I realised, certainly.

If I were you, I'd want to take it further, too. Not sure if I'd go through with it though, sadly.

Disclaimer - this is all just my opinion and based on my experience! ....(just in case!)

On a previous post didn't you mention that someone high up in the police had responded via email and a memo had been sent out,. Are you able to contact them re producer and show the journalist email from police.

Ang really sorry to hear about this result. How infuriating and frustrating.

and feel really sorry for the OP as I could have easily done the same

I suppose now it depends on how bothered and annoyed you are or if you'd rather have a peaceful life
crazy.gif
how insanely annoying that its seems to have come to a cover up

I don't understand why you went to the press when the complaints procedure had been explained to you in great detail.

Of course they are not going to confirm any details to the press, if some third party contacted you to ask for details of a contact between Police and member of the public, would you confirm it had happened? I wouldn't, that exchange is confidential and it would not be sufficiently in the public interest to breach YOUR confidentiality (that is what they have a duty to protect, after all)

You have been told how to complain, do it properly and you will get the results.
