went down last night lunged him and he seems fine on both reins now ... going to continue every night to loosen him up..

the mare i have is a trotter (i think x) and she knows walk trot but sometimes rather stubborn... her head carriage is rather high.. do you think its wise to lunge with takc on and put a martingale on.. with her been paced.... we have taken her out down the lane and her head is fairly high but when you pull her back she seems to jog .. im led to believe she has been a pacer .. it such a shame as when in the paddock riding you ask her for canter but she speeds up in a very fast trot .and wont break out in to one .. .. is it possible to re train a pacer? shes a good mare and a placid one

I have no personal experience with trotters but my old YO had one. She bought her off the pikeys many years ago. She's now an excellent show jumper. Still doesn't get the concept of true outline but she trots and canters normally. I think it took a lot of time and patience. Afraid I can't offer any ideas or help though, I simply know it is possible.
