Kenny has been back home since Friday and is doing well!

Although numerous tests were carried out absolutely nothing untoward was found. No ulcers, 0 on the worm and tapeworm counts, its not lymphoma or PLE (thank god!) or anything else they tested for (its all been a bit of a blur so can't remember them all unfortunately).

He is basically just one of these horses who is unfortunately prone to getting colicky.

He has lost quite a bit of condition - we reckon he is a very inwardly stressy pony especially when he was in pain, this was also what caused the 4/5 heart murmur which has now thankfully completely gone. he was the same when he came back after treatment for his eye that had stressed him, had dropped condition.

Vets have advised putting him on Gastrocare long term and also Equitop Myoplast to help him build the muscle back up without getting chubby! (very greedy native).

Was told to ride as usual with him - took him on a nice long but gentle (apart from when he kicked his heels up at the other horse we were with and b*****ed off) hack this morning and he was full of the joys of winter (?) which was nice to see.

Thanks again to everyone who commented advice or just kind words on my original thread. I won't ever underestimate how reassuring it can be to someone in the situation i was in so will always comment if ever i have a "shall i shan't i" moment in the future.

You know he has had all the tests done and they are all negative so you know there is nothing underlying which is fab.

You just happen to own a delicate flower! So pleased he is home and happy. Hopefully the Gastroguard will keep his tummy settled from now on and you can get on and have fun :)

Glad to hear that he is doing well. We had a mare who colliced three times in six days, vet unable to tell us why (she managed to show symptoms when it was just out of hours each time!) She took about 6 months to regain condition and as she was in her 20's we retired her from work, she did however go on for a good few years and never did it again.

Sounds like Kenny, he likes to do it at weekends and out of hours  Thats reassuring to know though, thank you :)

Glad he's home :) did the vets test for liver enzymes? He sounds very like what my mare was like! She had a liver infection meaning her liver was struggling to detoxify her body which led to colic, weight loss, stressy behaviour and the odd is she isn't she colicing moments!!

Hi, I recommend Day, son and hewitts maximise, I used it on my horse when he'd been ill. He stresses inwardly, and I used it to re-build his gut flora http://www.daysonhewitt.co.uk/maximise.php 1 sachet a day for 30 days, works a treat :)

Thank you for the link! Think I will try what the vets recommended first but if there is no change I will definitely bear this in mind.

And thank you to everyone else :)
